Lilac Bushes

Lilac bushes are a beautiful plant for your yard, and the blooms smell wonderful. Lilac bushes are good to plant in spring or in fall for best results. If you plant multiple bushes try to spread them at least 5 feet apart. They are great as yard border plants because some varieties grow large and can give your yard privacy from neighbors while also looking and smelling great in the spring when they bloom. There are also lilac trees if you like the flowers but do not want a bush, and lilacs come in multiple shades of pinks and purples, as well as white and yellow. Lilac bushes are pretty low maintenance; they just need regular watering and seasonal pruning. They do not need frequent fertilizing, but some fertilizer that is not too high in nitrogen in the early spring will give the blooms an extra boost.
